Ex-Auditor Hunter Denies Charges in Trial Day Two

The ex auditor Thomas J Hunter testified that he did not conspire with Colonel Albert Howell to misappropriate railroad funds. He detailed how a 500 dollar payment and forged letter involved Bookkeeper Martin and Clerk Grice, and described his movements to New York and Virginia before returning to Atlanta. The day featured expert accountant D S Penn from Haskins and Sells explaining railroad accounts and how false balances were transferred, with the court accepting a summarized ledger as evidence. The trial adjourned with Hunter preparing to present further data and a jury verdict expected mid afternoon.
