Tallulah Falls to Host Gigantic Georgia Power Plant
The Georgia Power Company begins construction at Tallulah Falls to develop about 100000 horsepower with a 6600 foot rock tunnel. A dam 1109 feet high will back water into a 600 foot fall to turbines, generating power for Atlanta and beyond. Plans include six generators and a 400000 horsepower potential, with future projects on the Chattahoochee and Etowah for up to 200000 horsepower total.
