A line of tornadoes ripped across Indiana and neighboring areas, causing extensive destruction and leaving communities in ruins. Officials report widespread damage to buildings, roads, and utilities, with search and rescue operations ongoing and crews assessing affected towns.
Across Illinois and Indiana two tornadoes kill nine in Morocco and Murphysboro, injuring scores and flattening homes. Dozens of deaths are feared as hospitals rush to treat the injured and lines of telegraph and telephone are down.
Three masked men robbed nine passengers aboard the westbound Golden State Limited near Sheffield Alabama. They shot the air signal tube to halt the train and escaped. Victims included W L Leblanc Mary Herron Co Denton D A M Fuller and wife J B Gomand with various cash watches and a gold watch valued at hundreds. Police obtained a description and pursued the fugitives.
Nastville Tenn April 21 After today s bail game between Nashville and Chattanooga W G Hirsig president of the Nashville Baseball club and W s Schwartz Manager were placed under arrest by city detectives They were released on bonds of 100 each Dr G C Savage president of the Men s Christian union called for action to enforce the state law against Sunday baseball.
