County Courts Hear Criminal Terms Under Judge Clark
The criminal branch of the superior court met at nine in the morning with Judge Richard H. Clark presiding. The State’s case against E. Murphy for assault and battery with intent to murder consumed most of the day, the jury remaining out at adjournment. The State v Louis Meizear for assault to murder featured an interpreter for the defendant, who cannot speak English. Evidence showed harsh language and threats by Lewis toward the German defendant, who retaliated, with the case set to resume next morning. Thirty four felony trials have produced a near capstone of convictions, praised for efficiency by Solieli General Hill and the judge, as the term winds up next Saturday.
