He then wounded himself in the breast, with doctors unsure if the injuries will prove fatal. Milledgeville Ga April 17 The Georgia Sunday School Association closed its annual convention with plans to expand state work. The budget rises from 6000 to 8500 with two additional full time field workers. County organization has grown from one to seventy eight since two years ago. Delegates rose from under 10 to 496 last year and to 34 registered this year. Georgia’s white population 1,643,661 has 322,166 enrolled in Sunday schools. Per cent connected remains about 21.6.

United States and Colombia Reach Panama Treaty Accord
Paris April 17 The text of the treaty between the United States and Colombia settling the Panama controversy was published via The Temps. Signed in Bogota April 7 by US Minister Thomson and Colombian officials, the pact grants Colombia free passage through the canal for its troops stores and warships and provides for a $2 million payment six months after ratifications. The agreement also covers canal privileges commercial advantages in the canal zone and railway traffic, recognizes Panama as independent, and calls for a further peace treaty negotiations between Panama and Colombia to address financial issues.

Mayor Mitchel Shot at City Hall by Machinist
In New York on April 17 an elderly man, Michael P. Mahoney a blacksmith out of work, fired one shot at Mayor John Pur vey Mitchel and wounded corporation counsel Prank L. Polk in the jaw as the mayor sat beside him in an automobile at City Hall Park. Mahoney said he was angered by city expenditures and denied a meeting about a municipal job. Detective Neun subdued him and chaos followed with police reserves summoned. The mayor questioned Mahoney at the police station and the man offered no explanation.
