Atlanta Merchants Pressfor Government Aid in Purchases
A conference is planned with H L Singer and R M Walker of Walker Brothers joining, along with Major Gerrard at Fort McPherson, to settle the matter to Atlanta merchants' satisfaction. Colonel Bellinger's remarks align with the merchants, who have long urged the government to recognize Atlanta suppliers. The Constitution launched the agitation, prompting the Chamber of Commerce to form a trade committee, investigate, and urge congressional action, though no step will occur until Colonel water reports back. Previously Atlanta sold limited perishables to Fort McPherson under the old ordering system.
