Drowned Forty in Scotch Immersion Ferry Disaster

A report from Aberdeen Scotland describes thirty persons drowned when overloaded ferry boats on the River Dee capsized during a sacramental fast day. Crowds gathered on riverbanks and ferries were drawn across by wire ropes, with one boat carrying all sixty passengers sinking in the middle stream. Rescue attempts continued as relatives searched the river for the missing.
