Bryan Offers Mascot Mule Prize to Top Democratic County

In New York on September 22 William J. Bryan proposed giving a mascot mule, Major Minnanafest, from Minnesota’s Agricultural Society as a prize to the county showing the largest percentage increase in Democratic electors votes over the average in the last three campaigns. The offer, disclosed by National Chairman Mack, directs the winning precinct to award the mule to the Democrat with the greatest gain, to spur turnout for election day.
