Clarke County should hold a meeting to elect delegates for the Road Congress. A letter from W.G. J. G. urges precincts, commissioners and local clubs to unite at the county site on the first Tuesday in October to choose representatives for the October 28 gathering.
The Democratic executive committee orders a city primary on November 25 1891 for the mayor and for alderman from each ward. Polls run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and only registered Democrats may vote after tax payment and clerk registration. Registration closes November 20 1891 at 2 p.m. The Banner and Ledger are urged to publish notice. Athens Ga September 18 1891.
The dispensary commissioners ordered a full stock of liquor wine and beer from Atlanta firms after tasting about one hundred samples. The plan is to open this week with hours 7 to 6 in winter or 7 to 7 in summer. A $2500 bond will secure the manager who faces a 50 percent profit margin on the invoice cost. Separately a tall monument to General Howell Cobb was installed in Oconee cemetery by his descendants, designed by Thomas Markwalter and carved from Georgia granite.

Sheriff Curtis intervened preventing bloodshed as Booker Jones and followers pursued. Lipscomb’s supporters claim jury bribery rumors swirl amid renewed interest.
The Georgia Senate considers Huff's bill to raise liquor tax to 200 dollars with amendments failing. Debate covers bond issues to pay public debt and a plan to adjourn sine die on September 23, 1891. The Athens Saving Bank act is amended and passed.
