A session of Alliance delegates met to discuss building a warehouse in Kis to store cotton. The meeting, part of the district convention, focused on storage facilities and organizational logistics for upcoming shipments.
A district convention in the courthouse drew delegates from Clarke Oconee Madison Jackson Walton and Oglethorpe counties. The Alliance rejected merchant offers and voted to build a warehouse in the district, likely in Athens, to store cotton and secure its full value. A stock company will operate the facility and merchants and cotton men will be heard later.
The event lasted from 9 a.m. until late afternoon with many notable farmers in attendance. It was described as one of the most important Alliance meetings the district has ever held.
The article denounces poor mail service with reports of letters delayed by over a week and destinations like Madison, Elberton, and Atlanta. It cites lost Northern mails, late newspaper deliveries, and criticizes new administration changes and the railroad mail staff as unqualified and careless.

Patterson departed Chattanooga for Opelika and both men are seen as likely to duel at Union Springs today with seconds Jackson and Rhett absent. Governor communications suggest the encounter may occur in Alabama though a meeting today seems unlikely.
A dull summer is felt nationwide as farmers face tough times from poor crops, but a robust harvest promises relief. Alliance support helped reduce store debts by up to 50 percent, and traders expect cash sales as old scores are paid. Higher cotton yields could bring price relief for producers this year.
J A Wood of Harrisburg reports a corn stalk towering 17 feet 4 inches with ears 10 feet high. Our Neighboring City Growing With Renewed Life. Elberton contractor H C Mickel reports rapid growth as Gairdner Arnold Co expands a large Elberton store and Swift Willcox granite works thrive. Mickel notes eighty five workers and predicts a big boom from G C N. Elberton firms see strong trade and prosperity across the town.
