A key suit filed yesterday by Kerr Murray Manufacturing Co. of Indiana against Athens Gas Co. seeks 3015.37 on a contract for reconstructing the gas plant. original contract was 14000. The grand jury list includes prominent local names from Athens and surrounding towns.
Former Georgia governor Allen D Candler died Wednesday at his Atlanta home after months of illness. He leaves a large family including his wife Eugenia T Williams and nine children. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Gainesville Thursday at 3 PM with a special train from Atlanta.

The regular Rhodes Scholarship examination was held at the University of Georgia yesterday. Several Georgia men took the test and have a history of ranking with leading candidates for the prize. It is believed a Georgia man has a fair chance to win again.
