Clarke County Court Closes Short Term with Memorials
Yesterday in Clarke superior court the October term closed except for memorial exercises for Judge Howell Cobb. The civil and criminal dockets were largely cleared, juries discharged, and the court adjourned after a 10 11 oclock schedule. Divorces granted, numerous cases dismissed or not pressed, and fines and verdicts recorded including a $75 penalty in the Rich Auf case.

West Virginia Synod Resists Taft Address Invite
At the West Virginia Synod session in Elkins on October 19 a resolution was adopted to protest President Taft speaking at the Laymen's Missionary Convention of Foreign Mission in Washington on November 11.
