Georgia Railroad Firemen Strike Faces a Longer Fight
Georgia railroad firemen strike enters a tense stage with about eighty workers involved in Atlanta and the Georgia terminals. General Manager Thomas K. Scott releases a supplemental statement arguing the move aims to destroy white firemen seniority, denies wage demands, and contends the dispute is driven by a Canadian vice president working to exclude Negro firemen from advancement to engineers. More patrols of trains report no major service disruption as talks continue and Ball from Toronto is cited as the strike’s spokesman.
