Circus tax rises to 500 for daily performances or parades. side shows at 25. hackmen pay 15 for single or double teams with badge numbers. horsemen at 5 or 10. council aims to standardize vehicles and stock.
Reader asks for safe egg preservation methods. Popular Mechanics notes Dr. Oscar Riddle’s experiments with hens fed formaldehyde and benzoate of soda to extend egg freshness, even in heat, as formaldehyde and related compounds pass into the yolk and delay spoilage.
The opera program at State Normal School drew praise for superb singing, flawless choruses, and refined pacing under Miss Gertrude Wood. Highlights included Faust, Il Trovatore, Carmen, and Lucretia Donizetti duets performed by the Normal Glee Club and soloists such as Ada Jane Dolan Laura Harper Ruth Henry and Lila Merritt. The audience applauded generously, marking one of the most appreciative nights in the school's history.
The marriage of Miss Vivian Barrett Cosby and Mr Hammond Addison Davis was held Saturday evening at the bride’s grandmother Mrs L H Williams on Pullam Street with Rev J B Robbing officiating. Due to a recent bereavement the ceremony was intimate with only a few friends and relatives present. Afterward the couple departed for Athens where they will reside at 29 Avanta.

Athens delegation joins a major education conference in Nashville the first week of April with speakers like J M Dickinson and W Page and sessions on rural schools college women and boys and girls club programs. Georgia plans broad participation including chancellors professors and state school leaders.
Whitehall district backs bonds and county progress after a rally led by Judge A J Cobb and other speakers drew an appreciative voters audience. Tonight Princeton hosts another gathering with leaders to discuss county interests and forward plans.

Part of the brain of a stillborn infant was used to replace diseased brain tissue in William Buckner at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr Harvey Cashing led the operation performed several days ago. Buckner, from Cincinnati, arrived November 23 and remains alive with cautious optimism for full recovery.
Hon William Henry Morton of this county may run for a county seat in the general assembly. Friends began circulating a petition for his name and many signatures were collected. Morton, a longtime Clarke district resident, is well known and trusted by local people.
Nashville writer Mrs Corra Harris will visit Athens for a few days with Mr and Mrs John D Moss. She will deliver an address before the University club and is among the Souths leading fiction authors with works in major magazines. Harris was widow of Prof Sunday H Harris longtime Latin and Greek teacher at Emory College Oxford.
Special to the Banner from Vancouver March 27 electors in British Columbia will vote tomorrow deciding the fate of Premier McBride and his Conservative government in office since 1909. The Liberal platform features single tax abolition of poll tax land improvements exemptions on income taxes to 2000 woman’s suffrage industrial insurance and prohibition of Orientals. socialists have positions noted but the text cuts off mid sentence.
The Athens Memorial Association will publish a big extra edition of The Athens Banner for Memorial Day April 26. It will be at least fifty pages with articles on Civil War events and local figures, plus substantial advertising. The association asks Athens businesses to place ads and expects hundreds of extra copies to be sold in the Athens area.
International Committee of the Y M C A will send Mr E C Merett and Mr J N Montgomery to the University of Georgia in April. Merett will lecture in the University chapel on April 4 and recount his life story from rise to redemption. The visitor is a Savannah native and descendant of General Mercer.
The Prince Edward Island Legislature assembled in Charlottetown marking the first session under Conservative premier J. A. Matheson. The report notes political shifts as socialist activity grows in Vancouver with a full ticket fielded.
