Albany July 5 The first bale of cotton arrived at R. Weston & Son's warehouse in Baker County. Martin Davis colored, sold the bale at public outcry to R. Nobbs, R. Brown and Chas. Wesselowsky for 15 12 cents. Bale weighted 325 pounds, classed low middling. It was raised on Primus Jones’s place in Bunker County, marking a historic first for colored farmers. Davis also delivered the cotton and pulled several open bales.
