Mr John Z Cooper Stricken With Paralysis in Athens
John Z Cooper a 73 year old Athens pioneer citizen suffered paralysis yesterday afternoon about two o clock. He reeled when trying to rise from a chair and was aided by A G Haynes. He was carried home and later regained consciousness with left side paralysis. He was resting easily last night. Cooper is widely known and respected in the city.

Strange colored disks seen in morning sky
Early risers reported a strange celestial display shortly after sunrise. About fifteen minutes after dawn a large cluster of colored disks appeared in three colors blue lilac and pink orbiting the sun. Locals offered varied theories with no rational explanation and some hoped it signaled better times ahead.

Walter Manuel, arrested for stealing pants at an Imperial hotel porter, was fined 10 or 12 months in the chain gang after a committal trial and conviction.
