Joe Carlton a well known citizen and business man of the city is seriously ill at his home near the Normal School. He suffered an acute indigestion several weeks ago and while recovering was struck by paralysis in one foot. The stroke occurred recently while he was downtown. Dr. Carleton reports no appreciable change in his condition.

Georgia Makes Large Fertilizer Shipment for 1910 Cotton Crop
Eight million five hundred thousand pounds of fertilizer have been received at the Georgia Department of Agriculture in Atlanta to be sold to Georgia manufacturers for use in the state during 1910. The shipment amounts to about 850,000 tons and is expected to boost soil fertility as planters intensify fertilization of cotton acreage.

Athens youth builds pioneering monoplane in garage
Penjamin T. Eppes of Athens has completed a two winged monoplane built largely in a local garage. The 21 year old inventor, with partner Humphrey Hult, tested the craft on city streets using an eight horsepower engine. The lighter second machine shows promise and may fly after securing a stronger motor and a proper testing track on a hill.
