The Crawfordville Democrat notes a Negro from Warren County Georgia, Alexander Paul, representing the Colored Farmers National Alliance and Co operative Union of the United States in Taliaferro County. It quotes the group’s aims to elevate colored people through education, especially in agriculture, and to be better citizens while avoiding partisan politics.
New Georgia laws recently enacted affect workers and business. Employers must provide seating for female workers and allow use during rest periods. The Hartwell Sun reports the Grady oak on the Savannah River will be preserved. Five marriages occurred in Hart County during Christmas week. Mrs. Sarah E. Kent, a poorhouse inmate, died of cancer. Mr. John Matthews was thrown from a buggy and broke his leg. Twelve thousand dollars in improvements have risen in Bowersville over the past year.
