Yesterday morning Ida Bryant three died after clothes caught fire from a grate on Willow Street. Her mother Mrs. Bryant fought flames, but the child ran to the hall where she perished. Dr. Fullilove arrived too late. funeral planned at Moon's Grove Madison County.
Mr W A Partee, arrested by Officer Heard for stealing cotton and carrying concealed weapons, pleaded guilty to carrying concealed weapons before Judge Cobb in Ely court yesterday. He was fined seventy five dollars and given twelve months in the wing. The case on cotton theft was postponed due to the absence of his attorney Col W M Smith.
Mrs. M. W. Davie dies at home in Oglethorpe County after a long illness at age eighty four. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. She leaves five children: Mrs James R. Crane of this city, Mrs T. B. Sutton of Wilkes County, Mrs T. H. Shorks of Crawford, Mrs G. H. Hall of Oglethorpe County, and Mr R. W. Nole of Winterville.
Mr Tom Deloney, who fell and fractured his skull Wednesday morning at a local hall building, remains at St Marys hospital. He showed marked improvement yesterday and doctors are hopeful for a full recovery as he receives attentive care.
Herman Delaper riere of Jackson county was elected captain of the Georgia football team for next year. A three year student and longtime tackle, he is praised as hard working, knowledgeable about the game, and popular with teammates.
Yesterday Ed Radford Arthur Woody and Reese Wise three Black youths were arraigned before Judge Cobb and pleaded guilty for breaking into Pat Man’s market and stealing fifty cents. Sentence deferred pending word from State Prison Board about reformatory placement as deputies seek guidance. Separate reports indicate others defrauded by youths posing as washerwomen collecting advance payments.
Vital Tone Company ends Athens engagement with a vaudeville and minstrel show at the Colonial Theatre next Monday. Dr Staake offers a handgame diamond rig as a prize, exhibited at Brandt's Jewelry Store. Brandt guarantees the ring as solid gold with a perfect diamond. Staake promises an engaging program and ticket sales are brisk.
Jim Henderson, a Black man shot Wednesday night by Tom Bureh in the city, remains alive at St. Mary's hospital with only a shade of improvement. Bureh fled, and no info on his whereabouts had been received.
A small cotton fire broke out in a railroad yard car loaded with cotton at the Georgia railroad depot. The blaze began late Wednesday night and burned through the night, gaining headway before discovery. Fire crews fought the flames but the loss reached about two hundred dollars.
Yesterday Mr. Katres unpacking bananas at his College avenue and Broad street stand found a young boa constrictor from South America hidden in a bunch. The two foot snake, chilled by cold weather, could have harmed someone if active.
The Georgia 800-08 Club unites the student body into a solid, county-based network with local officers and printed portraits. It aims to elevate university image and moral tone, stressing representative conduct over drumming, and calls for faculty and alumni support for bringing 800 men to campus next fall.

On Thomas Street yesterday afternoon Chartis Sanders a young negro traded pants with Abe Hargrove an old negro and later sold them for a quarter Hargrove counted eleven dollars in his pocketbook Sanders followed him claimed he needed whiskey and after a chase police recovered part of the money the pocketbook remained missing A robbery warrant was sworn Sanders was bound over on five hundred dollars and sent to the county jail
Secretary of State Phill Cook issues the charter for the Georgia Life Insurance Company of Athens with a half million dollar capital. The company, organized by leading local businessmen, will begin operations promptly. Columbus Ga December 5 Mrs Lucy Bentley Hart widow of Captain W T Hart of Union Point Ga died tonight after a brief pneumonia illness at the home of her daughter Mrs Lucius H Chappell She leaves two sons H St Hart Union Point and W T Hart Columbus three daughters Mrs W B Tate Tate Ga Mrs S H Sibley Union Point and Mrs Chappell She was a sister in law of Attorney General John C Hart of Athens and James F Hart and Jennie Hart Sibley of Union Point

Henry Osborne Havemeyer president of the American Sugar Refining Company died yesterday at his country home Merrivale Stock Farm Commack Long Island from heart failure. At his bedside were Mrs Havemeyer son Horace daughter Electra and Dr L C Frisbell. The body was later transported by special train to New York City and taken to the Havemeyer town residence.
Henry Kessler a retired Macon merchant died today at noon after fainting at the Walnut street boarding house dining table. He had just returned from his physician’s office and collapsed from heart failure. fire extinguished in the dining hall before his body was moved. The notice also includes an unrelated drug advertisement for Kodol claiming to aid digestion.
Washington December 5. Senator Bacon introduces a bill to establish a canal from the Tennessee river near Chattanooga to BrunswickGeorgia via the Ocmulgee river. The measure powers surveys and cost estimates, crossing navigable waters to connect the Atlantic with the Mississippi basin, with a five foot waterway and a $75000 appropriation for surveys.
Washington December 6 Senator Clay introduced a resolution urging the secretary of the treasury to report to the senate the banks where government money is on deposit and the amounts in each. He believes almost none is in the south while New York and eastern banks hold two to three hundred million.

Commerce Ga December 6 Hon C J Hood is erecting a large fireproof cotton warehouse on a big lot between North Broad and Homer streets fronting the Southern Railway track The project moves quickly and will aid farmers and merchants locally Hood plans to store cotton there and advance money to farmers to hold cotton for higher spring prices He is praised as a capable businessman and public spirited in this venture
