Resistant cotton variety found to combat black root in Georgia
Atlanta August 21 Proft A C Lewis assistant state entomologist in charge of cotton culture reports a resistant cotton variety that may eradicate black root disease in Georgia. The 10 000 appropriation from the general assembly funds work to fight the disease costing planters about 260 000 annually. The resistant seed already grows in Sumter county and has warded off losses, aiding lint seed and mill sectors as cotton seed oil and meal markets grow. The Department of Entomology will disseminate seed for next year. Foley's Kidney Remedy advertised for sale by druggists.

Land Offered to the Methodists for Permanent Georgia Meeting Place
A 104 acre Warm Springs Camp Ground tract in Meriwether county near Pine Mountain is offered free of charge to host future Methodist assemblies. The joint North and South Georgia committee will report at Chalybeate Springs on August 30 with trustees J Frank Ogletree, J M Barnes, and H H Tigner ready to tender. The site includes a mineral spring, oak forest, cultivable fields, and road access from four rail lines, promising a premier chautauqua grounds for Georgia Methodists.
