The seventh annual Group Two session of the Georgia Bankers Association convened in Elberton with I P Hunter of Elberton calling the meeting to order at 10. F K Ficklen of Washington Wilkes served as secretary as presidents cashiers and directors from Athens Monroe Elberton and nearby towns attended. Prominent visitors from New York and Athens joined the event, and new officers were elected including F H Ficklen as president J T Neal as vice president and W E Hatle as secretary. Further talks covered agriculture banker farmer cooperation and numerical transit systems with plans for the next annual meeting at Atlantic Beach Florida.

Big Fruit Crop to Bless Georgia in 1912
Special to the Banner. Atlanta April 17 One of the most extraordinary fruit crops in the history of the state is reported by the Georgia Fruit Exchange after a meeting of its executive committee. Members from all sections expect not only a large crop but the best quality of fruit the state has known. Trees bloomed late but favorable weather will hasten maturity. Shipping may begin two or three days later than normal. Growers of watermelons and cantaloupes are eager to profit through the exchange in marketing their crops as more have joined this season. The melon outlook is as bright as the fruit outlook. The Georgia Fruit Exchange was the only cooperative marketing organization of its kind at the Southern Commercial Congress in Nashville, where its plan was well received.
