Nelsonville considers Title 31 fire department stance debated
Nelsonville City Council discussed whether the fire department can oppose a proposed Title 31 property maintenance code referendum set for November 3. The code would add a $50 yearly fee for landlords and biennial inspections for rental properties, with exterior housing rules possibly expanding. Fire Chief Harry Barber said the department should not take a political position, noting limited staff to handle daily inspections.
