The Athens city council approved an anti-litter ordinance earlier this month. it becomes law 30 days after passage and carries a $25 fine per violation. Police will enforce in residential, business, and university areas. The measure bans sweeping debris into streets and requires property owners to keep land clear of trash, brush, and dead trees.
Kenneth E. Ackerman county extension agent for agriculture will assist exhibit officials at the third annual Ohio State Farm Science Review. The event runs Wednesday to Friday at the Ohio State airport with demonstrations in equipment field crops agronomy horticultural crops women's activities livestock and conservation exhibits. Athens County tickets total 132.
A 17 year old bicyclist Ul rich Stephen Douglas Brooks of Guysville was injured when his bicycle struck the right side of a car on Route 329 north of Route 50. He received multiple cuts and bruises and was treated and released at Shelter Arms Hospital. Brooks was cited into Juvenile Court for failure to yield the right of way.
