POINT PLEASANT The Mason County Board of Education last night discussed transportation for trips beyond regular routes as part of reviewing school bus use and scheduling.
The board lacks enough substitute drivers for out of town band trips and other activities. Bus drivers on extra trips must be regular drivers per state law. No substitutes may handle out of town runs. Supt Burdette will notify districts about delinquent transportation payments and a formal policy will be set at the Oct 21 meeting.
Pleasant Valley Hospital notes list a newborn daughter for Mr and Mrs Harold Fisher of South Side. Admitted: Charles Walden Point Pleasant Mrs James Cash Leon James McComas Ashton Mrs Glenn Lawson Cheshire and son Mrs Sidney Bauer Leon Larry Bradley Point Pleasant.
Point Pleasant High School plans its biggest homecoming dance on Saturday night October 2 from 8 30 to 11 with The Sensations band from the Charleston area. Admission is 1 dollar for singles and 1 50 for couples.
Mason County Historical Society hosts an luncheon on October 16 at 1 p.m. at the Moose home with speaker Dr Charles Moffitt of Huntington. Historians from other counties will attend and tours of county historical spots will follow including Dr Jesse Bennett's grave and the Mark Twain family home site.
The North Point Pleasant Grade School PTA will publish a birthday and anniversary calendar. Volunteers will canvass Oct 4 11 to collect names and memorials cost 25 cents.
