Man Held For Abduction And Slaying

Sioux City police say they have the right man in the abduction and slaying of 8 year old Jimmie Bremmer. An itinerant salesman identified by Detective Lt. Harry J. Gibbons is being questioned though no charges have been filed. The suspect denies knowledge of the boy’s death and admits talking with him the night he disappeared. The body was found in a pasture four miles from the Bremmer home by three highway maintenance workers after a month long search.

Marion Prison Branch to Relieve Overcrowding

Columbus reports overcrowding at Ohio Penitentiary eased by transferring 200 inmates to the Marion Training School by mid October. The prison houses about 5000 of a 12506 capacity.
