Nelsonville adds part time firefighters to reach full crew
Nelsonville expands its fire department to a full staff of four full time and nine part time firefighters. A 38-year-old woman, Jamie Valerie Jarrett of Galloway, Ohio, agreed to a plea in Athens County Common Pleas Court for helping SEPTA inmate Troy Tyler Byrd evade police after his April 1 escape. She drove Byrd to her mother’s house, while Byrd remained under pursuit that spanned multiple counties. Byrd, Justin Stanley, and David Skeens escaped SEPTA within 24 hours, part of seven escapes that prompted security upgrades at the Nelsonville facility.
