McKinley speaks at Athens on tariff and pensions
Governor McKinley addressed a large Athens crowd on a campaign for protective tariff and anti silver policy, defending pensions and criticizing free trade. He cited Jefferson and Jackson to back protection and condemned pension suspensions while urging votes for Republicans. A long procession, cheers, and remarks by local leaders followed the speech.
