Virginia McVay four percent daughter of H R McVay Athens County Schools superintendent was struck while playing on the way home from school. She lay in front of a moving auto and sustained a scalp injury and a sprained ankle. The driver swerved to avoid the child but could not prevent the impact. Mrs McVay said the accident may have been the child’s fault and that no driver or witness names were yet available. Superintendent McVay was away from the city at the time.

Two trays of diamond rings worth over 2000 dollars were stolen from the Sigler brothers jewelry store in Cleveland.
