Nelsonville Board of Trade directors met in the city building and set November 19 at 7 30 pm for the annual meeting. A nominating committee was chosen to prepare six two year director terms with a meeting October 1 at the Butts residence.
Eight Nelsonville and area residents attend the national Emblem Club convention in Swampscott Massachusetts this week. Local Emblem Club members include Mrs Elizabeth Keller Mrs Harrett Burgess Mrs Lillian Worthington Mrs Helen Jackson Mrs Kate Edington Jim Nora Jo Hall and Mrs Dorothy Brown of Murray City.
Nelsonville native William F. Powell 85 will attend the 16th annual Sohio Quarter Century Club reunion in Cleveland. Powell, a charter member, joined Sohio in 1910 to promote Miners Sunshine wax and later became general salesman until his 1937 retirement.

Nelsonville Nath Stephen Barber aged 79 of Nelsonville Route 1 died Wednesday night at Mount St Mary Hospital after a week of treatment. A native of England and retired coal miner, he is survived by widow Ella four daughters Hazel Vess Cleola Power Fern Shumaker Grace Darling three sons Ralph Stephen Jr Garrett two brothers Jethro Abraham two sisters Ann Dickens Sarah Kinneer Linnie Barbar 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending at Johnson Funeral Home.
Nelsonville Lions Club heard Dale Catney and Wallace Gillogly of the U S Soil Conservation Service explain upstream flood prevention on the Hocking River. They described contour farming, tree planting, and 100 000+ annual tree plantings as part of flood and erosion control and noted a federally funded plan protecting Lancaster and Rush Creek areas with 75 year life structures.
Nelsonville plans Mount Zion Ridge Homecoming Sunday at 2 p m in Mount Zion Ridge Church on State Route 278 with a guest speaker and special singing.
