Logan September 25. Gerald Oiler, a messenger carrier on the west end route, was late delivering papers. He fought a 26 pound carp after swimming the river twice to land it, then returned home to learn the boy had gone down the river with the papers just after the train arrived.

Funeral will be Sunday at 2 pm at Bradbury church, burial in Middleport Hill cemetery.
Eight-year-old Eva May Crook was beaten into unconsciousness and dumped into a creek near Liberty Indiana. Coroner's inquest opened as bloodied ground, scattered schoolbooks, and a laundry marked handkerchief surfaced near the body. Parents and siblings knew of no motive or suspect.
