Logan Hocking Fair attendance record eyed on centennial event
The Hocking County Centennial Fair opened with strong crowds and officials predict a new attendance record barring bad weather. About 3000 attended Wednesday night, over 4000 Thursday afternoon, with many school groups present. The pageant titled Pioneer Days drew Narrator Rev Paul N Verner and featured reenactments and floats. An on opening night horse pulling contest left a driver injured and a horse died during the event. Awards went to Lawrence Beaver in the heavy division and George Guthrie was named best driver. The fair runs to the centennial pageant finale with a fireworks display.
