Gallia County Sheriff’s Department investigated a 5 15 a m break in at Clay Elementary School but found no one on site. A bread truck driver reported seeing a man in the front hallway and deputies searched with the custodian but found only an ajar basement door and no missing items.

OSU Farm Expert to Speak at County Dairy Meeting

Prison Term Given Keels In Breaking And Entering
Eldon Keels 34 was found guilty of breaking and entering in Gallia County Common Pleas Court after a 15 minute jury verdict. He received one to five years in the Ohio Penitentiary, matching the sentence given to his twin Weldon Keels who testified for the state.

Taber Doubts Pay Hike Plan Will Be Pushed
Rep D O Taber reports after a Civil Service Commission hearing in Columbus that the Department of Mental Hygiene dropped its urban rural differential proposal for salary increases. He expects a 10 percent raise for most state employees, excluding those already boosted, replacing the differential plan. He notes seven years since the last general raise and says further gains may follow later.

Semi Driver Involved in Route 35 Back-Of-Car Crash
Gallia County report notes no injuries after a 10 10 a m Route 35 collision four and a half miles west of Thurman. Robert L Hall 38 of Mt Airy North Carolina struck the rear of a car that was slowing to turn right. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and the other driver remained unidentified.

Buckeye Girls State Delegates Speak at Legion Auxiliary Meet
Gallia County 1964 Buckeye Girls State delegates Mary Ann Ryal Judy Durose Mary Ely and Rose Northup spoke at Lafayette Post 27 American Legion Auxiliary gathering. The group voted 20 to fund Legion Hall renovation and reported one third of the membership quota met with plans for the Oct 8 district conference at Middleport.
