Senate leaders predict defeat for amendments to the limited nuclear test ban treaty. They expect overwhelming approval for ratification with about 84 or 85 senators in favor, while Democratic leader Mike Mansfield would not predict the final tally.

The worst crash occurred Sunday in Licking County when three Pataskala residents died after colliding with a freight train engine.
Air Force Navy and Coast Guard aircraft scoured a 60 mile wide corridor 2650 miles from Cape May to the Azores for a four engine cargo plane with 10 crew members aboard. The last radio contact was near Cape May at 2 53 a m Sunday at 13 000 feet climbing to 14 000 feet. The Azores bound plane originated from Dover Air Force Base en route to Lajes Portugal.
Police report a 75 year old retiree James Kellis was found slain in his Yorkville residence Sunday night. He lived alone and was discovered face down with hands and legs bound behind him by wire. Authorities named no suspects at this time.
