Point Pleasant duo sentenced to 10 years for armed robbery
Robert German and Robert Bates, both of Point Pleasant, were found guilty of armed robbery in Mason County Circuit Court. They received 10 year sentences in the state penitentiary after a 90 minute jury deliberation. Mrs Jacquelyn Nibert faced deindictment for lack of evidence. The crime occurred June 7 1959 near Gallipolis Ferry involving William Scott of Gallipolis. Scott had met the trio in Keanauga and was robbed of $40, a lighter and a pocket knife. Jurors included H A Lieving foreman and 11 others.
