The UN Command handed 22 prisoners who renounced communism to Indian troops, leaving Allied stockades empty for the first time in three years. The exchange includes 23 Americans, 1 Briton, and 335 South Koreans, with 359 Allied soldiers to be observed at the demilitarized zone.
President Eisenhower described the Taft Hartley Act as sound but said he would ask Congress in January to fix several defects. The Lawndale Heights housing project built by the federal government in 1943 will close by February 28 forcing 179 people to seek new homes. Project manager Sarah J. Thornton says only 14 families have found new housing and banks rarely provide loans. Rent ranges from 27.95 for a one bedroom to 34.45 for three bedrooms. Air Force doctors report a non gas forming diet reduced digestive cramps and improved success against enemy planes in Sabre jet missions. A controlled test showed pilots on the special diet claimed 4.2 times more mission successes than peers on regular mess hall fare. Researchers caution the diet is not the sole factor and note cramps at high altitude could impair flight control.

A collision between a truck and a dump truck in Willoughby Township Tuesday night killed three people. Victims include Rev. William C. Stillinger 66 pastor of the Church of Christ in Ashtabula his wife Estelle 61 and her sister Emma Fogel 79 of Charleston W Va. The truck driver William J. Zenisek 20 suffered bruises.
