Wallace letter urges scrapping Baruch plan and appeasement toward Russia
Henry Wallace proposes turning atomic energy secrets over to the Soviet Union and open appeasement toward Russia. He argues budget cuts justify weaker defense, contradicting Byrnes and U.S. policy. The letter claims democracy and communism can coexist but ignores Soviet abuses and aims to withdraw U.S. troops, risking eastern Europe and wider conflict.
