Nelsonville Officials Seek State Help for Street Lighting

Mayor C G Dew toldNelsonville residents that city lights were shut off due to funds lacking for service. He plans to travel to Columbus to explain the situation to state officials and request a suspension of the order, noting Athens and Nelsonville pay for lighting while Nelsonville uses free service. An extra 1.5 mill levy in November could raise over 5000 for the light plant, with citizens urged to back the levy and restore service while unpaid salaries might be diverted to the light fund temporarily.
