The Glouster Kiwanis Club met in the Church of Christ social room with no speaker on the program. Adolph Goldberg won the attendance prize. A regular council session is set for 7 PM at the City Building to discuss installing water filters and softeners at the city light plant with the Board of Public Affairs.
Ruth and Gehrig top American League with 50 and 24 totals for the Yankees. Hauser and Simmons lead Athletics with 15 and 14 while Blue of the Browns adds 1. Yesterday’s homer heroes include Harper Hafey Hogan and several others with two or one runs.
Eddie Shea of Chicago defeated Babe Ruth of Louisville at 126 pounds in Chicago on September 21. Ruth and Shea met in a notable boxing bout with Shea securing victory in the weight class.
About 350 attended Lam born's pavilion for a miners mass meeting led by international organizer William Houston and District Vice President Watkins. Mrs S W Beal and her son Junior finish a four week stay with her parents Mr and Mrs Joe Chapman in Jacksonville and will return Sunday to Dayton.
In Columbus on September 21 a boxing bout featured heavy weight Gerry trading blows with Rush Heise. Heise was knocked down in the second round but recovered as referee Phil O'Dowd struggled with the count. Heise pressed on and won a judges' decision after ten rounds.
Columbus defeated Louisville 5 to 4 to complete an eighth straight win and move the Senators out of the American Association cellar. Six of those wins have come at Louisville’s expense.
Gene Sarazen captured the Metropolitan PGA Championship at Quaker Ridge Golf Club for the second straight year. He defeated Craig Wood, the New Jersey pro, 2 up and 1 to play in the final round of the 1928 tournament.
