British forces pushed on a three mile front east of Lempire and Epehy under a fierce storm. They hit German outposts before the Hindenburg Line and reported 300 to 400 prisoners taken. Spurs from the ridge and trench mazes around Le Priel Farm and Le Catetet Copse aided the assault.
London reports fresh German attacks north of Moeuvres repulsed yesterday afternoon. At Gauche Wood German infantry briefly pressed a British post but were repulsed after an all night fight. The fights continue as the war rages.
Australian forces push toward St Quentin canal within half a mile of the Hindenburg defenses. Holonon and Lempire villages cleared. In Lys 4439 German graves found in one cemetery, dating April 17 to August 26. British report many cemeteries beyond the line as they advance north.

Col William Mitchell, chief of the air service for the First American field army, born in France thirty-nine years ago. He began his U S army career in the Spanish American War and later aided aerial operations that helped clear the St Mihiel salient during World War I.

Dailey of Columbus, a business visitor in Athens, was noted.

John Graham deputy sheriff of Athens county acting as dog catcher and three companions were jailed after crashing into a Chevrolet near Yorktown Ohio. Both cars were wrecked. Graham pleaded guilty to drunken driving and was fined $60 plus costs. He paid $4 and sought release to raise the rest. A dog rode with the group.
The draft board plans mailing 250 tonnaires daily to registrants aged 19 to 86 starting September 12 with a ten percent daily quota for ten days unless higher. A prior quota mailed per day reached 600. A Liberty Bond meeting is set for September 23 at 7 pm in Chauncey Town Hall to organize sale efforts in Dover township with local officials listed.
