YOUNGSTOWN September 19 The U R Steel plant operations in the Mahoning Valley will be slightly lower in the coming week with district plants averaging 39 percent versus 43 percent this week. Twenty six of 66 open hearth furnaces will be melting as Valley trade authorities report. Republic Steel Corporation operations in the Youngstown district hold at 35 percent of capacity. Youngstown Sheet and Tube plants again run at 34 percent while Carnegie Steel Company production is estimated 40 percent, down five.
