Methodist Women’s Society Postponed To Friday
The Woman's Missionary Society of the Methodist church is postponed until Friday afternoon September 26. Mrs. E J Kessinger and Mrs Lee McDowell visited Columbus on Wednesday. Rev Tifft, retiring pastor, will preach Sunday morning at the usual hour. the new minister Rev Morrell of Marietta cannot attend Nelsonville services Sunday. Reverend and Mrs Tifft plan to leave early next week for their new home at Summit near.

Kiwanis Club Observes Constitution Week Program
Kiwanis members heard a Constitution Week program led by vice president Dr Acomb in President Welch’s absence. Dr Rhodes spoke briefly followed by Columbus guest Charles Curtis McIntyre who discussed Americanism and the Constitution. The meeting included singing directed by W H Estle with Velma Yours on piano. J L Murphy was chosen to represent the local club at the Canton state meeting next week.

John McMillin of Columbus, a well known coal operator, was taken seriously ill in Nelsonville yesterday and confined to his room at the YMCA. He was moved to the C. C. Sharp residence today and is said to be threatened with pneumonia.

Deaths 4 C Bailey Civil War veteran dies at 82
J C Bailey 82 a Athens county pioneer and Civil War veteran died at home on Church street after a long illness. He was a retired jeweler and watchmaker who lived in Coolville before moving to Athens in 1908 where he resided until his death. Burial will be at West Union street cemetery after a Friday 4 pm service. He leaves a daughter Laura Bailey a brother J I Bailey and a sister Mrs James Bogart. Mr Bailey served three years in Company R 116 O V I.
