Guilty plea in murder case stems from Spot Restaurant shooting
Charles R. Henderson, 24, of Athens Route 5, pleaded guilty before Mayor Franz Woodworth to a first degree murder charge for the killing of John Gwinn, 30, at the Spot Restaurant in Athens. Gwinn was shot as he rose from a stool. Henderson was arrested on Richland Ave minutes later and bound over to the grand jury. Gwinn, a 40 month Army veteran, leaves a large family and was a former milk company employee. Funeral services are planned Friday at Bates Church.
