A Sunday reunion and visiting day for the Class in the Corner of the Methodist Protestant Church is set for Sept. 19 at 9 30 a m. All former members of Mrs G C Herron s class are invited with guests. A welcoming program is planned and Rev Ray W Huff will preach after Sunday School.
At the Floyd Bolin Post Veterans of Foreign Wars Armory meeting tonight officers for the coming year will be nominated. Refreshments will be served.
Rev. Harley Bolton of Rutland will preach at Langsville Church Sunday evening. The annual home coming will be held at Wesley Chapel M. E. Church on Sunday.
The Ohio Safety Council presents a free open air traffic safety show at Athens Municipal Airport starting 8 p.m. Tonight. A 12 foot high screen with sound will display four films including Hit-and-Run Driver and Safety for Sale. Cars may remain in stalls or spectators may walk onto the field. Columbus & Southern Ohio Electric provides current free.
At noon today Ohio University registrar Dr. Frank B. Dilley announced 2,800 students had registered, with late enrollees expected to push the total toward 3,000. The previous record was 2,767 for last year's first semester.
Rev. F. G. Strickland will preach in the Dyesville Church on Saturday with an expected program and turnout. The event invites local residents to hear a recital of religious messages and hymns.
Daugherty newly elected chairman of the Athens County Democratic Committee and Theisen newly appointed member will speak at the Waterloo Township Democratic Club meeting Monday night September 20 at the Knights of Pythias Hall in New Marshfield.
Communion will be observed at 10 30 Sunday morning at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church with Rev Smythe L Lindsay editor of The Messenger delivering the address. Shade Schedule lists Sunday School times for Shade Pleasant Hill Burlingham and a 7 30 p m preaching service. Rev Earl Cowen is pastor.
Reverend Fred E. Luchs named new pastor of the Athens Presbyterian Church discusses Palestine, British policy, and the Holy Land in a wide interview. He recounts his studies at Franklin and Marshall, Hartford, Chicago, and his prior pastorate in Monroe Pennsylvania. Mrs. Luchs, Evelyn Coulter, is a 1927 Ohio University alumna with Chicago and Columbia experience.
