Bandits stabbed a merchant after deceiving him as Mexican troops failed to intervene. The incident, described in a chaotic rescue attempt, highlights a breakdown in security during an armed assault.
In Mexico City a U S citizen Jacob Rosenthal 62 of Woodmere N Y was murdered by a bandit gang after a failed ransom attempt. Three suspects identified as gang members are brought to trial. two bandits were killed and Rosenthal’s body recovered as authorities search for remaining members. Ruff Rosenthal’s son in law expresses responsibility after a note from Rosenthal reached him.
Arthur Weed of Columbus met with Meigs County Farm Bureau director George W. Kreitler and campaign manager Harvey French on Wednesday evening at the farm bureau office. They planned township meeting programs and membership drive activities.

In Mount Carmel Illinois a fatal shooting was kept secret for three days after neighbors misheard a pistol shot as fireworks. Guy Hadley a 35 year old confectioner was arraigned in connection with the death of Frederick Laubender 35 an alleged rival for Hadley’s wife. Laubender was shot Monday night as he left the Hadley home and was taken to a hospital in Evansville Indiana. His death was reported to his parents on Thursday.
Geneva dispatch says the United States pressed Cuba to drop its candidacy for the League of Nations council before yesterdays election. Cuba renounced its bid prior to the vote, despite expectations of an easy victory.

Clifford Darnell of Cannonville, badly injured when struck by a car last Tuesday evening, passed a restful night. The attending physician reports his condition is much improved and his temperature is normal today.
