Businessmen Repairing Dam At White's Mill

Two young Athens businessmen Charles Hanning and Jim White lead a five man crew to restore the White's Mill Dam across the Hocking River. They install logs and a dirt filled center box capped with cement aiming for completion early next week. The dam powers the mill and aids grain operations. White notes the project costs under $3000 and may spark water backing until repairs are set. Local historians cite the dam dating to 1807 built by Silas Bingham and later bought by the White family in 1911.
