The Soviet ship Baltika carrying Nikita Khrushchev nears New York as Berlin pressure grows. Western officials expect Khrushchev to confront the UN as East Berlin officials claim constitutional rights for travel limits, rejecting Allied protests and four power control claims.
President Eisenhower will deliver a speech to the United Nations General Assembly next Thursday. The White House said he will present specific proposals to UN delegates timed to precede Soviet Premier Khrushchev’s address.
