The Maine election produced a historic Republican landslide with a near 70,000 plurality, sweeping rural and urban areas. Governors, congressmen, and senators won large margins, signaling strong GOP momentum for Harding nationwide and prompting praise from Republican leaders.
Touching tribute was paid to the memory of Mrs Henry Zenner who died Friday at 4 o clock. The funeral services were conducted Monday by Dr A Y Wilcox pastor of the First Presbyterian church of which the deceased was a member. Dr Wilcox spoke of the loss Athens has suffered through the death of a woman of sterling character. Large floral offerings paid silent respect. Interment was in West Union street cemetery.

Cleveland police arrested 34 year old Jose Alvarez in connection with a Steubenville jewelry store robbery. He allegedly carried two suitcases full of jewelry and fought with officers before being taken from a train. He drew a revolver and tried to shoot his way free, then attempted to jump from a window.
Washington reports Connecticut ratified the Federal woman suffrage amendment confirming its validity and easing concerns about fall elections. The Connecticut House passed 216 to 11 and the Senate 33 to 6.

Principal H A Tuttle aims to make schools progressive and to expand commercial offerings. Music and art will be emphasized with teachers devoting full time to science home economies and music. The high school plans an orchestra and glee club and a band. English instruction will improve and many local teachers are alumni of Murray City high. On the first day students were asked their future vocations. 22 chose teaching, 17 stenography or bookkeeping, 12 gave no definite answer.
A large Harding-Coolidge club gathering is set for tonight in Nelsonville to merge the separate women and men groups. Athens members will attend to perfect organization and plan a thorough canvass of Neigonville and York townships.
