Nelsonville Public Schools report 1296 pupils for the Fall term starting last Monday, about 50 fewer than last year. High School and Central Building see largest decreases with seventh grade also below prior enrollment. weekly attendance lists High School 7, Central 362, East 272, West 105.
Glenn Allen was elected commander of Glenford Dugan Port No. 229 American Legion for the coming year at the annual meeting held at the Legion Building. He succeeds W. W. Warren who served as commander the previous year. Allen also had served as adjutant for the past two years.
Actress Jean Sargent rides a bicycle in a two towel wrap at Saratoga Springs New York, claiming to inaugurate a new outdoor costume. Critics say the design is uncomfortable and not form fitting but may serve as crash towels for inexpert cyclists.

The Federal State Crop Reporting Service cut its Ohio yield estimates sharply after heavy rainfall last month. A lifesaving jacket from the Lusitania was recovered in the Delaware River near Philadelphia, five years after the liner was torpedoed off Ireland.
Mr and Mrs Earl Worthington hosted a Sunday gathering for 32 guests including the Burgess and Worthington families from Buchtel Nelsonville New Strattaville and Murray City at Haydenville. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Joseph Shuttleworth and families and Miss Dolores Cupit who welcomed a new Priscilla Club member Lillian Russell.
Nelsonville high school Band Boosters Club hosts a bingo party at the K P Hall tonight at 8 to raise funds for the band and replace instruments. The group, active in recent years, expects a large turnout and supports the band under the direction of the band master.
Nelsonville report notes no guest players at the Wednesday Contract Club hosted by Mrs. Cecil Shafer. Mrs. Shafer, Mrs. Wallace Glenn, and Mrs. Harry Kelly posted high scores.
Mrs J W Hickman entertained her bridge club Thursday night at the Cottage Tea Room in Athens. Guests included Mrs Frank Bonifield Mrs Corwin Cookson and Mrs Frank Jackson. High club score went to Mrs Harry Kelly Jr and Mrs Elisabeth Edington while high guest score went to Mrs Cookson. Refreshment course followed the play with pink rose buds as favors. Roses and comas were the flowers used at the tea room.
Rev Mrs F H Landgrade will speak on missionary work at the Nelsonville Church of the Nazarene Sunday evening at 7 30. Other services include Sunday School at 9 30 morning worship at 10 30 and Young People at 6 30 followed by the Missionary Service at 7 30 which will close the day.
