Miner Josef Thomas Dies After Mine Accident Near New Pittsburg
In Murray City on September 11 1900 or 1890s, Josef Thomas a 46 year old miner was struck by falling top at the Athens Hocking mine near New Pittsburg. He died within three hours after being placed on a train to Murray City. Funeral services were held at the Thomas home and he was buried at Greenlawn cemetery Nelsonville. Also Nabob Easterling a driver at No 7 mine was injured when a train car shifted and crushed him causing broken ribs and bruises.

Aged Man Colvin Dies at Daughter's Home
E. J. Colvin died at his daughter Mrs. W. A. Matheny's Columbia avenue home this morning at age seventy. A retired Hudson Mich merchant, he came to live with his daughter three months ago.
