In a compact bridge hand Jed wins with a diamond to the dummy and plays the ten of hearts for a finesse. West swallows the jack by playing king of clubs, signaling a misread. South misjudges distribution, assumes East holds the jack, and plans 11 tricks with top cards. South then ducks an ace of clubs and a second diamond to rig a finesse on nine of hearts, aiming to squeeze out additional tricks.
